Michael studied at the University of Dundee before moving to Glasgow to undertake his specialist training in Emergency Medicine. During his training he spent a year in Western Australia working in retrieval medicine. During this time he completed the DRTM. He has worked with EMRS since 2013 as a registrar before being appointed as a consultant split between Glasgow Royal Infirmary and EMRS. He has been an instructor in ATLS since 2012, and was a medical lead for the Glasgow Commonwealth games, and also a lead consultant for the Glastonbury Festival since 2015. He has a keen interest in safety and is the lead for event reporting within the service, as well as morbidity and mortality within GRI. He is liaison for Mid-Argyll.
