Ali is a consultant anaesthetist. He has worked for EMRS in various guises since 2014, taking a break in 2019 for a seven-month fellowship at Air Ambulance Kent Surrey Sussex. He has been involved in a number of EMRS research projects, presenting these at national and international meetings, and he has published articles, abstracts and letters on prehospital care in conjunction with Service colleagues.
Ali has been a volunteer with St Andrew’s First Aid since his teens; he is now a Trustee of the charity and an Honorary Medical Officer, and he has worked as a crowd doctor at events including football matches and the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games. Away from work, he enjoys cricket, yoga, and has extensive experience as a basketball official, including a role as a statistician at the London 2012 Olympic Games. He lives in Shawlands with his partner and their two rescue cats, Gilbert and George.
